BOAT OWNERS MARINE PACK, For
sailboats and cruising. Includes deck insulation surface, and connects
to bottle or your boat’s water tank. Also includes tie-down cords,
instant-fit tube coupler, drawstring storage bag plus thicker
evaporation surface to prevent sloshing at anchor. Avoid transporting
water with your dinghy, avoid energy gobbling osmosis systems. Always
have a source of drinking water. DURABILITY -The units are constructed of FDA-compliant, UV-tolerant string-reinforced polyethylene material, and they have been field tested under direct sunlight for over 18 months each. They are manufacturer-rated to provide sun-resistance for four years minimum, and the material has been tested in ancillary applications to indicate continued performance beyond six years of constant sun exposure, and considerably longer with periodic sun exposure. Key components include ozone-resistant silicon expansion fittings, UV-resistant FDA-compliant barbs, stainless steel hardware and ruggedized outdoor quality zipper. If the unit is accidentally cut, it can be repaired with standard polyethylene repair tape, or temporarily with duct tape. If you are cruising a monohull in rough water, we recommend stowing the unit to protect it from falling objects and to keep a clear deck, our units are primarily made for docking and mooring, though they have been successfully used underway on multihulls when carefully lashed to the deck hardware. You shouldn't need any replacement parts, at least we have yet to identify any components that fail with use. The support poles with the unit do tend to bow after some time under tension and in the sunlight, which can produce slack in the clear cover and potentially impinge on water collection, but this is fixed in about five minutes, simply by rotating the poles. Depending on your throughput, you will need to clean the evaporation pad every month or so, and empty out the brine and salt. This simply entails emptying the unit, rinsing the pad in seawater and replacing it inside the unit, then throwing out the first few ounces of distilled water. |
